1. How did the idea of founding BUSLAM and continuing the family legacy in the real estate development sector come about?

a. Ivan Busto Jr. – As a civil engineer by profession with a postgraduate degree in business administration, my passion for creating and consciously reshaping the environment was my entrepreneurial aspiration from a young age. After immigrating to Miami in the 90s, I was captivated by this beautiful and growing city, and I immediately knew I wanted to be actively involved in the transformative need to positively impact the real estate development experience with a unique focus on quality and character. Fortunately, I was able to work for several years with one of the most influential developers in Cuba before 1959 and later here in South Florida, where my work was quickly recognized, leading me to manage the entire operation. This experience solidified my career in Miami’s construction and real estate industry. In 2002, together with my father, we launched our independent venture, which became what is now known as BUSLAM.

BUSLAM, a combination of the first three letters of my surnames, Busto-Lamelas, honors the two people who gave me not only life but also their love, care, values, and spirit. Today, BUSLAM is the realization of the dream I shared with my father and now share with my children: a multifaceted business group that goes beyond corporate standards, rooted in the essential values of society. We proudly call ourselves the BUSLAM Family, as do our employees and collaborators.

As a family, we always remember where we come from, and this philosophy of belonging resonates with everyone who works and collaborates with BUSLAM. I am proud to know that my eldest son and current president of BUSLAM can tell our story with every detail, just as I would. My middle son, Kevin Busto, despite numerous other opportunities and offers, chose to enrich himself with our history by joining the BUSLAM legacy.

Today, I speak of BUSLAM not only with pride but also with excitement for the future. What began as a dream to fulfill my passion for creating has become a generational company, a legacy that, with God’s help, has already become a brand transcending the industry. I would like to share that BUSLAM is completing its vision with the creation of its luxury brand, “La Musique,” which offers an exclusive combination of experiences merging the most elegant elements of Miami’s history, recreation, art, and culture.

2. What does it mean to you to maintain your family legacy in the creation of public spaces and hotels in Miami?

3. What have been the biggest lessons you have learned working together as father and son?

Ivan Busto Jr. – One of the greatest lessons from working with my children, beyond the pride and satisfaction it brings to a father, is that it constantly recharges me with new energy and adaptability to modern trends. This generational integration not only strengthens BUSLAM’s identity with each step forward but also reaffirms the family values upon which this dream was built.

With my eldest son Ivan joining at a young age, we focused on consolidating the solid foundations of what BUSLAM is today, shaping a corporate structure and establishing a professional yet authentic organizational culture. With my middle son Kevin’s recent integration, both his brother and I have felt a renewed infusion of energy. We have high expectations for his fresh approach, adaptability to new trends, and methods to enhance BUSLAM’s competitiveness in the evolving market.

Ivan Busto III – Maturity has been one of the most valuable lessons in this family and professional union. Working with my father since my teenage years has shaped me as a professional and given me a mentor like no other, who always has my best interests at heart, selflessly. However, it has also meant that we have shared each stage, both personally and professionally, which has required a level of maturity to separate immediate emotions and focus on our long-term goals.

This hotel shares the name of our luxury brand I mentioned earlier, inspired by the Greek origin of the word, which symbolizes the art of the muses.
